An Update from Out Trustees...

There’s lots going on at the Centre at the moment: Our newest project is the Community Larder which we call “Something for the Weekend”. This is sponsored by Clarion Housing and means that we can distribute surplus foods from supermarkets to local residents. There’s always a selection of fresh, frozen and chilled food as well as packets and tins. Just pop in after 11 am on a Friday morning and see what is on offer. We just ask that people make a donation of what they can afford – or for those in real need we can make up a bag of food to keep you going.

Also funded by Clarion Housing there are free After School activities for children and their carers on two afternoons per week – Craft on Thursdays and Games on Fridays. There is no need to book – just drop in – the Craft Club will be thinking about Christmas now with lots of different things to make – cards, decorations, gifts. Certificates are on offer to those who learn to play a new game at the Games Club – chess, draughts, memory games, snakes and ladders and ludo, scrabble....

Our new Silver Lunch Club (which is funded by Awards for All) is proving very popular too. Our volunteers and trainees prepare a delicious three course cooked meal for only £5.00 for two courses and £6.75 for three and that includes a cup of tea or coffee. We are now taking bookings for the Christmas Meal which will be on the 6th of December. We can arrange free transport too.

And don’t forget the Community Cinema – every month there are films for children and their parents – only £2 per adult and free for children. We make our own popcorn and sell other snacks and drinks. See our website and Facebook page for details.
