Cinema in the Community

Since the 27th January, the East Malling Centre have been hosting a monthly Cinema Club for local families. The project was part funded by Clarion Futures and to date we have had screenings of The Lion King, Toy Story 3, Frozen and Paddington 2. The aim of the club is to offer a cinema experience at affordable prices. As well as showing the film we cook fresh popcorn and sell a selection of drinks and snacks. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, with many people meeting up to enjoy a film with friends.

Local people can choose to buy a yearly membership pass or pay a monthly membership of £2 per adult. With a yearly pass costing just £8 per individual or £15 per couple, it really is great value for money. Children go free to all of our films. You can find more information about joining us, or download a membership form, on the Cinema Club page of our website.

The Cinema Club is organised and run by a group of volunteers. Liz Simpson, our Chair of Trustees, books the films and organises the refreshments. You will often find Liz behind the snack stall with our lovely volunteer Deborah who is a wizz with the popcorn machine! Jennie and Katie, the Centre Administrators, answer all of your enquiries and organise all of the membership cards. You will often see them on the front door on club days. Richard is responsible for the projector and sound equipment, and a whole host of other volunteers help us to set out chairs. It really is a Community Cinema and we couldn't run it without all of the local supporters.

If you haven't joined us for a film yet, the next screening will be on May 26th. The doors open at 2pm and the film COCO will start at 2.30pm. We look forward to seeing you all there!
